How Remoscope works (no servers)

Remoscope is built differently than most web apps. Here's the key difference:

Your data never touches our servers.

Traditional apps vs Remoscope

Traditional app:

  1. You sign in with Google
  2. The app stores your tokens on their server
  3. Your files pass through their server
  4. They can see everything

Remoscope:

  1. You sign in with Google
  2. Tokens are stored in your browser only
  3. Files are transferred directly via Google's API
  4. We literally cannot see your data

What this means for you

  • Privacy: We can't read your emails or files because we never receive them
  • Security: If we got hacked, your data wouldn't be at risk — we don't have it
  • Control: Clear your browser data and everything is gone. No account to delete.

Trade-offs

The downside of this approach:

  • Remoscope only works in the browser (no mobile app yet)
  • If you clear your browser data, you need to re-add your accounts
  • Some features that require server-side processing aren't possible

We think the privacy benefits are worth it.
