TL;DR: Your data stays in your browser. We don't have servers that store your files, emails, or tokens. We can't see your data even if we wanted to.
Introduction
Remoscope ("we", "our", or "us") is a privacy-first web application that helps you manage files and email across multiple cloud accounts from one dashboard. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Our Privacy Commitment
Remoscope is designed with privacy as a core principle:
No servers: Your data is processed entirely in your web browser
No data collection: We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal data to any server
Minimal analytics: We only use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are visited — no personal data is collected
Data Storage
All data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage and IndexedDB:
OAuth tokens: Stored locally to authenticate with provider APIs (Google, Microsoft, Dropbox)
Account information: Email addresses and display names from your connected accounts
App preferences: Theme settings, sidebar preferences, and other UI settings
License keys: If you purchase a Pro license, the key is stored locally
This data never leaves your browser. We have no ability to access it.
Data Protection Mechanisms
Remoscope employs multiple layers of protection to keep your data secure:
Encryption in Transit: All communication between your browser and cloud providers uses HTTPS with TLS 1.2 or higher. Every API request to Google, Microsoft, and Dropbox is made over encrypted connections.
Secure Authentication: Remoscope uses OAuth 2.0 for all providers — Google, Microsoft, and Dropbox. You authenticate directly with each provider. We never see or handle your passwords.
Local Storage Security: Data stored in your browser is protected by the browser's same-origin policy. Only Remoscope's origin can access the data it stores — no other website or extension can read it.
Token Handling: Access tokens are short-lived and automatically refreshed. Refresh tokens are stored locally in your browser and are never transmitted to any server we operate. You can revoke tokens at any time through your provider's account settings:
No Server-Side Storage: We operate no backend servers that store, process, or have access to your data. There is no database on our end — nothing to breach.
Provider API Usage
Remoscope connects directly to provider APIs from your browser:
Google Drive API: To browse, search, and copy files in your Google Drive accounts
Gmail API (read-only): To display your emails in a unified inbox
Microsoft Graph API: To browse OneDrive files and read Outlook emails
Dropbox API: To browse and search files in your Dropbox accounts
OAuth 2.0: To securely authenticate your accounts with each provider
All API requests go directly from your browser to the provider. We don't proxy or intercept these requests.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how our app is used. This collects:
Pages visited and general navigation patterns
Device type, browser, and approximate location (country/city level)
Session duration and referral source
GA4 does not have access to your files, emails, account names, tokens, or any data stored in your browser. It only sees page URLs and standard web analytics. You can opt out using a browser extension from Google.
Pro users: If you have a Pro license, Google Analytics is completely disabled — the script is never loaded. Zero tracking, zero ads, full privacy.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
Google Analytics 4: For anonymous page-level usage analytics (see above).
Google Ads: We display ads to free users. Google may use cookies for ad personalization. You can manage ad preferences at Google Ad Settings.
LemonSqueezy: For processing Pro license purchases. Their privacy policy applies to payment transactions.
Data You Control
You have complete control over your data:
View: All data is visible in your browser's developer tools (localStorage)
Export: Use the Export Settings feature in the app
Delete: Use "Clear All Data" in Settings, or clear your browser data
Revoke access: Remove Remoscope's access through your provider's account settings:
Remoscope is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify users of significant changes through the app or our website.
Google API Limited Use Disclosure
Remoscope's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, Remoscope:
Only uses Google API data to provide the features described in this policy (browsing files, reading email)
Does not transfer Google API data to third parties, except as necessary to provide or improve user-facing features, with user consent, or for security/legal compliance
Does not use Google API data for advertising or to serve ads
Does not allow humans to read Google API data, unless with explicit user consent, for security purposes, or to comply with applicable law
