TL;DR: Your data stays in your browser. We don't have servers that store your files, emails, or tokens. We can't see your data even if we wanted to.
Introduction
Remoscope ("we", "our", or "us") is a privacy-first web application that helps you manage multiple Google accounts from one dashboard. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
Our Privacy Commitment
Remoscope is designed with privacy as a core principle:
No servers: Your data is processed entirely in your web browser
No data collection: We don't collect, store, or transmit your personal data to any server
Minimal analytics: We only use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are visited — no personal data is collected
Local-first: All processing happens in your browser — we have no backend servers that touch your data
Open source planned: We're committed to transparency and plan to release our code publicly
Data Storage
All data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage and IndexedDB:
Google OAuth tokens: Stored locally to authenticate with Google APIs
Account information: Email addresses and display names from your Google accounts
App preferences: Theme settings, sidebar preferences, and other UI settings
License keys: If you purchase a Pro license, the key is stored locally
This data never leaves your browser. We have no ability to access it.
Data Protection Mechanisms
We implement the following security measures to protect your sensitive data:
Encryption in Transit
All connections to Remoscope use HTTPS (TLS 1.2+)
All Google API requests from your browser use HTTPS
OAuth tokens are transmitted only over encrypted connections
Secure Authentication
We use Google's OAuth 2.0 protocol for secure authorization
Access tokens are obtained through Google's secure token endpoint
We request only the minimum scopes necessary for app functionality
Local Storage Security
OAuth tokens and account data are stored in your browser's localStorage/IndexedDB
This data is protected by your browser's same-origin policy — only remoscope.com can access it
No tokens or credentials are ever transmitted to our servers (we have none)
Token Handling
Access tokens are short-lived and automatically refreshed via Google's OAuth flow
Refresh tokens are stored locally and used only to obtain new access tokens from Google
We operate no backend servers that store user data
Your files, emails, and credentials cannot be accessed by us — they exist only in your browser
Google API Usage
Remoscope connects directly to Google's APIs from your browser:
Google Drive API: To browse, search, and copy files between your accounts
Gmail API (read-only): To display your emails in a unified inbox
Google OAuth: To securely authenticate your accounts
All API requests go directly from your browser to Google. We don't proxy or intercept these requests.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how our app is used. This collects:
Pages visited and general navigation patterns
Device type, browser, and approximate location (country/city level)
Session duration and referral source
GA4 does not have access to your files, emails, account names, tokens, or any data stored in your browser. It only sees page URLs and standard web analytics. You can opt out using a browser extension from Google.
Pro users: If you have a Pro license, Google Analytics is completely disabled — the script is never loaded. Zero tracking, zero ads, full privacy.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
Google Analytics 4: For anonymous page-level usage analytics (see above).
Google Ads: We display ads to free users. Google may use cookies for ad personalization. You can manage ad preferences at Google Ad Settings.
Stripe: For processing Pro license purchases. Their privacy policy applies to payment transactions.
Data You Control
You have complete control over your data:
View: All data is visible in your browser's developer tools (localStorage)
Export: Use the Export Settings feature in the app
Delete: Use "Clear All Data" in Settings, or clear your browser data
Remoscope is not intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We'll notify users of significant changes through the app or our website.
Google API Limited Use Disclosure
Remoscope's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Specifically, Remoscope:
Only uses Google API data to provide and improve the core functionality of the app (cross-account file management, unified search, storage analysis)
Does not transfer Google API data to third parties, except as necessary to provide the service, with user consent, or for legal reasons
Does not use Google API data for advertising or to serve ads
Does not allow humans to read Google API data, except with user consent, for security purposes, or to comply with law
